Don’t let manifesting get in the way of wishing

By Vera Remes I love poet/writer Shel Silverstein and the quirky wisdom found in his “children’s” books.  I put the word “children” in quotes because adults read his books too, and appreciate his unique view of the world, people and what’s important in life. One quote about manifesting and wishing and those who make wishes, is one of my favorites and led me to write a blog about wishes creativity and manifestation. Titled Invitation, this quote comes from Silverstein’s book Where the Sidewalk Ends:   If you are a dreamer, come in, If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar, A hope-er, a pray-er, a magic bean buyer… If you’re a pretender, come sit by my fire For we have some flax-golden tales to spin. Come in! Come in! Not thinking about what he was...

Did women’s lib go too far?

By Barbara Steingas In the early sixties, a group of women started the National Organization for Women (NOW). The intention was not to dismantle the prevailing male dominated system, but to open it up for women to be able to participate more on public and political levels. The main issues they focused on surrounded reproductive rights, domestic violence, maternity leave, equal pay and sexual harassment/violence. The question is, did their work cause a rift in the ultimate goal of fostering women’s lib and balance?   Opening doors Although NOW’s efforts led to many positive results, including equal pay, the right for women to initiate divorce, right of choice and access to birth control, right to own property, the Equal Rights Amendment, equal access to education, access to jobs other...

Professionals can help you find a sustainable job by pursuing your passion

How to earn money pursuing your passion

By Tamara Rokicki The traditional nine-to-five job is no longer the only way to earn money.  We live in a time when traditional living is becoming less applicable. Today, having a sustainable job means making a living doing what you love.  People everywhere are discovering that living a full and satisfying life includes doing things that make them happy—hobbies and passions that make them feel alive and well rounded. Many bloggers, Etsy shop owners, and YouTubers own their passions by creating their own little business empire. The Mind Key Project was founded on the belief that everyone is not only entitled to financial freedom through the pursuit of his or her dreams. We also believe that by denying our talents, passions and dreams, we sell ourselves short...

Financial freedom does not always come from the simple idea of money

Why your financially secure job may not bring you financial freedom

By Wendy Watson-Hallowell How many of us have gone down a career path we didn’t care about, stayed in a job we hated, or worked for someone where we could not be ourselves with the idea it helped us to stay safe and somewhat free? Happiness and financial freedom are a tricky combination. I have compromised many of my own dreams and personal values to make more money, and to ensure more money would come. However, I was always driven by a subtle fear of not having enough money, and felt like I was constantly jeopardizing my safety and freedom. Many of us have given up on our passion, pleasure, and self-respect in the ongoing struggle to make the almighty dollar. We feel we have to...

build the career of your dreams with Mind Key

Do you have what it takes to build the career of your dreams?

Since this month’s issue is all about relationships, we thought now was the perfect time to introduce Mind Key’s relationship with the future.  About a year ago, I cultivated a relationship with Martha Witt of William Paterson University.  Impressed with the Mind Key Project, Professor Witt asked that I speak with her capstone writing class about building a career in writing. What ensued was an assignment worthy of publication. That’s why, over the next few months, you’ll be seeing student pieces published in The Daily Key.  Each student was asked to pitch their story in detail. Upon approval of these pitches, they underwent several drafts. They submitted their final articles at the end of last semester. I have been working with the students, helping them find sources...
