Vertical Gardening with the Rodale Institute – Snapshot

Grow up, not out Vertical Garden! Build your growspace   Vertical Gardening in Urban Environments     Many urban centers across the U.S. have been labeled as "food deserts" where city residents do not have access to local, fresh produce. Food is transported to city centers by the truckloads from miles away, oftentimes arriving close to or past their expiration and in questionable condition. As a result, city residents, who account for 81% of the U.S. population, are provided with low quality produce. Urban gardening and farming has risen in the last decade. However, increasing green spaces and food production in urban environments is not without challenges and risks.  Rodale Institute has designed a number of prototypes for vertical gardening called "Growing Towers." Advantages of using growing towers include creating space vertically...

NJ Event – Drum Circle tomorrow night!

Reflecting on recent losses, near and far, I know it's ever important to celebrate life. So, let's make some noise! If you haven't already, please let us know if you're coming. Looking forward to spending this time with you, Ruth         Drumming with others is an ancient practice that people have used for millennia all over the globe to connect, heal, learn, witness and celebrate with each other. It’s only been in the last few hundred years that many people in our modern cultures have stopped connecting in this way.    Drum Circle Facilitator Vera Remes will lead us as we use various forms of vibration, such as simple clapping, drum, and rattle rhythms to create deep relaxation which allows the mind and body to become quiet.  Circle may include group...

Dadpreneurs!

Thanks to Ann Noder at Pitch Public Relations, we found out about these awesome Dadpreneurs and in the spirit of a stupendous Father's Day, we wanted to share them with you. Jon Sumroy, dad of four, is the brains behind the new mifold - the most advanced, compact and portable child car safety seat in the world - ten times smaller than a regular booster seat. Rather than "boosting" kids up - the seat brings down the seat belt to a child's size. It’s so compact it can even fit into a back pocket! The company is now in manufacturing to meet massive customer orders after exceeding its Kickstarter goal. Edward McCloskey has launched the first chemical-free baby wipe (new to the U.S market) after struggling to...

Playwrights–let your babies go

As artists and writers it's easy to hold onto your work, crafting, editing, polishing, repeat.  Sometimes the best thing you can do is just let it go. Rhino Theatre is offering playwrights the opportunity to do just that. Before you can get your work out in the world, you have to let it go. Best of luck! You've been slaving away over that manuscript...

Meditation made easy

Sometimes meditation is hard, but this little moving meditation is so simple that I've taught it to my girls who are 4 and 7. It's something I hope that we can all come back to when life seems overwhelming. It's a great way to recenter, and focus.  It's a way to find your spirituality, and to meditate without struggling to remove your thoughts from your mind.  The simple act of walking slowly while bringing your hands to your heart or your face allows you to feel your thoughts without judgement. Even if you only have a few moments, check out the beginning of the video to get the gist of it.  Listening further will take you deeper into how this helps quiet the mind and bring peace...

NY Event: Change your water, Change your life

Water is the one of the most important things we put into our bodies on a regular basis.  The question is, however, what's in your water? As an avid water drinker (it's about all I drink besides tea), I know certain waters agree with me better than others. This Friday's free event is one of many Bobbie and Rita have been doing to help people find the best water possible, and how it has helped them. Rita says, "We have had tremendous success with helping people and want to keep sharing this. There will be many testimonials that you will hear and the benefits of drinking this water is incredible. No other water compares, especially bottled water and you will find out why. This is a free...
